- NDAA Section 889 (implemented by FAR 52.204-25) prohibits agencies and contractors from procuring or using covered video-surveillance equipment from the five covered entities. An NDAA-compliant camera is not made by a covered entity and does not contain covered components, such as Huawei/HiSilicon system-on-chip processors. Axis designs its own ARTPEC system-on-chip, which supports a compliant component path, though the specific model still has to be confirmed.
- TAA (Trade Agreements Act, 19 U.S.C. 2501) is a country-of-origin rule for many federal contracts: the product must be made or substantially transformed in the US or a TAA-designated country. China, Russia, and India are not designated. Sweden is a designated country, but TAA status still depends on where a specific model is actually manufactured or substantially transformed.
