The short version
Both are legitimate federal paths. GSA MAS is the broad commercial catalog with TAA built into the terms; SEWP is a government-wide IT/AV contract prized for low fees and fast quotes. Many security buys can go either way.
When GSA MAS fits
- You want pre-negotiated commercial terms across products and services
- TAA compliance in the contract terms is important
- The buy spans hardware, software and integration services
When SEWP fits
- The buy is IT/AV-centric (networked video, storage, access infrastructure)
- Speed and low contract fees are priorities
- You want a quick quote-to-order cycle through the SEWP portal
Compliance is the same bar either way
Whichever vehicle, the items still must be Section 889-compliant and (for most federal buys) TAA-compliant, documented per SKU. The vehicle changes the path, not the compliance requirement. Compare vehicles or ask us to recommend one.
