Dept. of the Interior Office: Door-to-Camera-to-IT Modernization (Western US)

One integrated project: HSPD-12/PIV access (HID + LenelS2), Axis + Hanwha video, and the structured-cabling / PoE / IDF backbone to run it all.

NDAA Section 889 · TAA · HSPD-12 / FICAM / PIV

Client: U.S. Department of the Interior regional office (location withheld). Representative engagement — details anonymized for operational security.

The challenge

A Department of the Interior regional office needed an end-to-end modernization delivered as a single coordinated project: HSPD-12/PIV building access, video coverage of entrances and public areas, and the network and IT backbone — cabling, PoE and IDFs — to actually run it. They wanted one accountable integrator from the door to the camera to the network.

Our approach

Access control came from HID credentials and LenelS2 controllers, configured for HSPD-12/PIV and integrated with the agency's identity/credentialing.

Axis and Hanwha cameras covered entrances, lobby and parking, unified in Genetec Security Center alongside the access system.

Underneath it all we built the backbone: certified Cat6A copper and fiber, PoE switching to power the devices, and new IDF build-outs — then handed over documented as-builts and an IT handoff package.

Systems deployed

HID + LenelS2
HSPD-12 / PIV building access control
Axis + Hanwha cameras
Entrance, lobby and parking video
Structured cabling + PoE + IDFs
Network / IT device backbone
Genetec Security Center
Unified access + video

Results

  • PIV-compliant building access integrated with agency identity
  • Full entrance, lobby and parking video coverage
  • Certified cabling backbone with PoE and new IDFs, fully documented
  • One integrated system — door to camera to network — under a single accountable integrator
